Chester Leagues (Night and Seniors) Programme for 2020
It is with great sadness that I received yesterday a directive from the BCGBA stating that there should be no bowling in 2020 (because of the Corona Virus situation) until we are given the all clear.
So, there will be no LEAGUE games, no COMPETITIONS no FRIENDLIES , no MEETINGS (and no fun).
The season will not get underway at all until we have another directive, at which point the Management Committee of both leagues will decide how/if the season is to continue. At this moment it is pointless even to speculate but, as we all know that the over 70s have been placed in self isolation for twelve weeks, it is not going to happen before the end of June at the earliest.
For the Chester Seniors, the Captain’s meeting on March 24th has now been cancelled.
Chester Night League, there will be no Committee meetings until we have permission to hold them.
In addition, I feel that we should all be aware that bowling greens should in effect remain “closed” as anyone using the greens for whatever reason will not be insured. This applies to both “private” and municipal greens where bowlers pay greenage. I know that this is very difficult but it has been imposed by the BCGBA for our collective safety and therefore we have no choice but to comply. Chester West and Cheshire Council employees may request that bowlers leave the greens. (However, it will give them extra time and opportunity to ensure that the greens are in pristine condition when bowling does commence!)
I would be grateful if you could inform all of your teams and club members of this fact as soon as possible. In addition, perhaps a copy of this letter could be made available for all to download so that everyone has the full facts and is left in no doubt as to what is happening.
I have all the fixture cards and Cheshire books ready for distribution. I will contact you when it is a suitable time with a date and venue for collection.
I apologise for being the bearer of such sad tidings. Rest assured that I will keep you all up to date and we will endeavour to begin our season at the earliest possibility.
